01 Sep Dota 2: TI 10 Teams Preview – Virtus.Pro
Virtus.Pro has always been one of the best teams in CIS. That’s why many people consider VP to be among the favorites for TI 10.
There aren’t that many Dota 2 teams in Esports that are as popular as Virtus.Pro. Despite not winning the biggest event in the game yet (The International), VP is one of the squads that always manages to find a way to achieve good results. Created back in 2003, VP was home to almost every top Dota 2 player in the region. Some of the people who’ve played for the team include Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko, Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok, and more.
Virtus.Pro in 2020 and 2021
One of the few teams that had a lot of success in 2020 was Team Secret because they won almost every event. Sadly, this wasn’t the case for Virtus.Pro because the CIS powerhouse had a massive roster change that took place after TI 9. Needless to say, those things usually have a negative effect on a given team because the new players need time to learn how to play together.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the team didn’t win anything. Perhaps the most impressive victory in 2020 came in December when the Virtus.Pro won the EPIC League Season 2 Division 1. Following the victory against OG, the team received $200,000 USD. For now, 2021 doesn’t look that good for VP, despite winning the ESL One CIS Online Season 1 and 2, the team wasn’t able to shine elsewhere.
Vitalie “Save-” Melnic and his teammates played poorly during WePlay Animajor, despite being one of the hidden favorites. VP was eliminated from the event early on after losing against the Chinese powerhouse Vici Gaming. After the heavy loss, VP took part in ESL One Summer 2021 and did really well until the Grand Final. Unfortunately, the CIS team was unable to defeat T1 and finished second. The players tried to win the Fall version of this tournament, but this time, they came in at third place after losing against PSG.LGD.
Can Virtus.Pro win The International 10?
Yes, VP definitely has what it takes to become TI 10 champions, but it won’t be easy. Despite having people, such as Danil “gpk” Skutin, the CIS team will have to go up against the best in the world. Besides the two-times TI champions OG, VP will have to compete against Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, PSG.LGD, and more.
While it is true that most people don’t consider VP to be among the big favorites, the team has enough firepower to bring down the best. This means that we just have to wait and see whether it will live up to the expectations.
