CS:GO: Travel Restrictions Forces ESL Pro League Season 14 To Go Online

The pandemic is still causing disturbances in esports events.

ESL has announced that the 14th Season of Pro League will take place online because of COVID-related travel restrictions.

We would have loved to continue on LAN, but due to uncertainty surrounding COVID-related travel restrictions, #ESLProLeague S14 will take place online with all 24 teams competing from their homes and boot camp locations within Europe.

Like any other event organizer, ESL would have loved to organize a LAN event, but the challenges posed by the pandemic are too risky. Especially considering that the league will start in four weeks’ time and the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19 across Europe. The rules are stricter and the league will run for a longer time than most Major competitions in Counter-Strike.

The 24 teams taking part in the competition will play from their respective homes or boot camps. The event will be like Season 13 of the ESL Pro League. Some of the best teams including Astralis, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas and many more will take part in the event. IEM Cologne was an exciting event to watch with its fair share of twists. We all saw FaZe Clan beat Gambit in a surprise series between the two, as well as Na’Vi take down G2 in stellar fashion during the Grand Finals. Season 14 will start online from August 16. However, ESL is continuing to evaluate the situation to bring back LAN for IEM Fall and IEM Winter 2021.
