The event is set to take place from December 18th – 20th, with Fortnite qualifiers starting on December 13th.

Mike M. Hessabi, President of Nicecactus, commented: “Sport is anchored in Monaco’s culture and occupies an important place in the principality’s landscape. Through the Monaco Gaming Show, esport and social gaming now have a yearly event of their own.

“Nicecactus is proud to organize this event for the second consecutive year with our partner, the Monaco Esports Federation and under the high patronage of the Principality.”

According to the release, qualifiers for the Rocket League tournament have already been held. The competing teams include Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, ForFunSmileyFace, Team Queso, Endpoint, Dignitas, BDS and Team Vitality.

Partners of the event include ice cream brand Magnum, performance technology company Hyperice, French telecommunications company Telis and technology firm Intel, as well as media entities NRJ and Melty

The finals of both competitions will be broadcast with French and English commentary by esports casters such as Grégory ‘XEWER’ Boye, Willy ‘Skyyart’ Dias and Pierre ‘Pialni’ Alexandre for Fortnite. Louis Ducruet, President of the Monaco Esports Federation, stated: “Through this event, we want to demonstrate that Monaco is fully committed to becoming a champion in the field of esport.

“The Monaco Gaming Show will allow us to confirm that we are open-minded and that the principality wants to be a pioneer in this field where other countries, bigger ones, have yet to address! This shows that we are at the exact right time to get involved.”

Esports Insider says: Given that the inaugural season of the Monaco Gaming Show was considered a success, it’s no surprise to see the organising parties host another edition. With only two esports titles and relatively small prizes, there’s still a long way to go for the event. However, this is certainly an exciting time for the principality.
