24 Oct Dota 2: s4 Leaves Alliance
After a somewhat disappointing performance at TI 10, Alliance has decided to part ways with s4.
Gustav “s4” Magnusson is one of the most legendary Swedish Dota 2 players in the world. He was a part of the TI 3 winning roster of Alliance, alongside other top-tier European players. Besides that, he was also a part of many top-rated teams over the years and always proved himself as one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, Alliance was unable to live up to their expectations at TI 10.
We will always remember💚

The biggest Dota 2 event took place a couple of weeks ago in Bucharest, Romania. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, we got to see the best teams in the world in action, including the European powerhouse. Although many people thought that Alliance will be among the hidden favorites, this wasn’t the case.
S4 and his teammates played really well against some of their opponents, but this was not enough to shine. As a result, Alliance was eliminated earlier than anticipated. It seems like the team was not happy with its results because just a few days after TI, one of the living legends is leaving the club.
Interestingly, the world-class offlaner was one of the only team captains playing as position three. Despite that, we got to see really interesting drafts in every game that focused around Alliance’s superstar – Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov.
In the farewell, Alliance CEO and co-founder Jonathan “Loda” Berg expressed his thankfulness for everything s4 has done for the team.
“… It’s been a joy to have Gustav around, I can speak for all the players and staff when I say that, and it has been a blessing to spend a few more moments with our old friend. Together with his team, he bought us to TI and even won us a game on the main stage. Something we had not been able to do for a long time.”
What’s next for the Swedish powerhouse?
After s4’s departure, Alliance needs to add a new player to the roster. Since Gustav was the team’s captain, it will be really interesting to see who will fill in the new rule. Even though the new player will most likely be from CIS/Europe, we won’t be surprised if Alliance decides to sign in a player from SEA or China.
