LoL: Upset Will Not Start For Fnatic At Worlds 2021

Fnatic’s ADC will be missing the biggest event of the year.

The 2021 LoL World Championship is mere hours away from the start of the Main Event Group Stage. Sixteen teams are set to battle and hope to advance for a shot at the Summoner’s Cup. This is the moment the players have all been waiting for more than anything else. However, Europe’s Fnatic had some sad news for fans today. Their ADC Elias “Upset” Lipp will not play with the team due to having to return home for a family matter.

Upset’s departure, especially at the last moment, is difficult for everyone. For the fans that have cheered him on all year, but most of all, Upset himself, who has performed exceptionally to help bring his team to this huge milestone. In his place, substitute Louis “Bean” Schmitz will be playing with the team for the Group Stage. The organization stated that Bean has been playing with the rest of the squad for the past few weeks, so even though it is short notice, there should be some synergy established already.

Currently, there is no word about why Upset left or if or when he can return. Based on the implied severity of the situation, there is a good chance he won’t play at all. Fans can only hope the situation is resolved or gets better soon. We at ESTNN wish him and his family all the best.

This is certainly a hard loss for Fnatic, who had a stellar Summer Split to make their way to Worlds once again. However, they, and Upset, will appreciate the community’s support now than ever. So make sure to cheer them on as they take on Hanwha Life Esports on Monday!
