17 Sep Dota 2: TI 10 Teams Preview – Team Aster
We take a look at Team Aster, another Chinese team about to give it their all to win Dota 2’s most prestigious event .
As many of you know by now, Team Aster is one of the Chinese teams that managed to earn a spot for the upcoming TI 10.
The team created by Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei and “XiaoFei”, which explains why the team quickly made a name for itself. Of course, it wasn’t easy because China is one of the regions that has loads of top-tier Dota 2 teams.
If you take a look at the team’s latest results (we will do that in just a bit), you will see that Aster is among the best in the country. That’s why some Dota 2 experts consider the Chinese powerhouse as one of the potential favorites. It definitely won’t be easy to go up against the best from Europe and CIS, but this operator has what it takes to do it.
Aster’s DPC Season
Aster has been doing OK in 2021 after winning several events in 2020. Although, the team didn’t start 2020’s season on a positive note. They failed to impress at the first Major of the year. Even though Aster was playing well prior to this event, they couldn’t win their match against Invictus Gaming. As a result, the team was eliminated early on.
Following those bad results, Du “Monet” Peng and the rest of the squad drastically improved their play. As a result, Aster won the StarLadder S3 Minor, an important victory as it gave them the team a needed boost to their confidence. Although they couldn’t win the next couple of events, they still managed to play pretty well through most of them.
Aster is definitely performing better in 2021, at least for now. After qualifying for TI 10, Team Aster won both Season 1 and 2 of i-League 2021, which featured several other notable teams. Unfortunately, the team failed to impress when it mattered the most — during the WePlay AniMajor. After several disappointing results, Team Aster were unable to defeat TNC Predator and were among the first teams to be eliminated from the tournament.
The Chinese powerhouse team
Besides Monet, Team Aster also has players, such as Liu “White丶Album_白学家” Yuhao. The Chinese midlaner does not have as much experience as the team’s carry, but this doesn’t make him less dangerous. In fact, he is often regarded as one of the most promising mid laners in the country.
Another player that has an important role is the Dota 2 veteran Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng. At 31 years of age, LaNm is among the most experienced players in the professional scene. That’s why it probably doesn’t come as a surprise he is the team’s captain.
The 22-years old offlaner Lin “Xxs” Jing has been a part of Team Aster for several years now. Besides being a vital part of the team, Xxs became one of the few players that joined the 10K MMR club. This happened on 6 May 2021.
Last but not least, we have Ye “Borax” Zhibiao, a player that is mainly known for his previous nick – BoBoKa. The support player joined Aster in 2018 and has been an irreplaceable part of the team ever since. Needless to say, he played a key role in Aster’s success over the last couple of years. Hopefully, he will also help the team perform well at the upcoming The International 10.
