Recreational esports league startup Mission Control has announced a strategic partnership with the University of Kentucky.
As part of the agreement, Mission Control will provide the University of Kentucky with a strategy and help execute a community esports program for students to get involved in campus activities. The program will be open to students former, present, and future.

Per a release, the Mission Control platform will allow students to seamlessly play, and communicate, with other gamers on campus — allowing them to foster relationships through their shared passion for video games.
Heath Price, Associate CIO, University of Kentucky, commented: “We are excited to partner with Mission Control and provide their platform to our growing gaming community. As we welcome our students back to campus and showcase our new UKFCU Esports Lounge, this platform can help unite Big Blue Nation through a diversity of communities for both competitive and casual gamers.”
The University of Kentucky will begin using Mission Control in the fall semester to host recurring esports leagues in conjunction with other programming around gaming. Both parties aim to ‘keep students engaged and socially active year round’.

This partnership follows a string of Mission Control developments over the past year. This past November, the company formed a partnership with WISE Esports Ventures Stack Sports, the parent company of the Minnesota RØKKR Call of Duty League franchise and the Version1 brand. Other team-ups include Stack Sports, The NC Recreation and Park Association (NCRPA), Cinemark, and HyperX.
Esports Insider says: There are an estimated 200+ universities that offer esports programs in the U.S. The pandemic created obstacles related to student engagement, but year-round communities like Mission Control can help keep them engaged regardless of whether they see one another in person.
