Colombian singer José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, better known as J Balvin, is the newest addition to Fortnite’s growing ICON Series. Several high-profile celebrities; including Fortnite icon Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, and more, have already etched themselves in the ICON Series over the last few years. We can safely add another marquee name to the list.

J Balvin’s in-game appearance leaked last week and Epic has made the collaboration official. The Colombian superstar’s Fortnite will hit the Item Shop on August 26. However, the developers are hosting the J Balvin Cup, where players can win the singer’s cosmetic outfit and back bling for free. Let’s take a look at the tournament’s format, schedule, scoring system and explain the registration process to get you prepared.

Format & Schedule

Epic Games will continue the trend of free skin tournaments under the duo format. That means teams of two are eligible to play for a chance to win free in-game prizes. The overall goal for competitors is to earn points based on eliminations and placement points.

Here is the complete J Balvin Cup format:

The tournament begins on August 26
Three-hour session
A maximum of ten matches
The highest point-earning duos per region will win the J Balvin base outfit, pickaxe and back bling

How to Register

Players must apply two-factor authentication (2FA) and have a level 30 or above account to qualify for this tournament. There are no required Arena Mode ranks to compete, so it’s essentially open to competitors of all skill levels.

Scoring System

The free skin tournament scoring system remains unchanged from the last two. Players will earn one point per eliminations and 42 points in total for completing a Victory Royale.

Prize Distribution

Epic will hand thousands of free J Balvin cosmetic outfits and accessories to competitors in each of Fortnite’s seven competitive regions. Europe leads the way, where 2.5K prizes in total are up for grabs.
