28 Jul xQc Banned On Twitch For Supposed DMCA Offense
xQc receives an unexpected ban while watching the Olympics on Twitch.
Twitch superstar Félix “xQc” Lengyel has received another ban on Twitch. Twitch kicked Lengyel off the air during his live stream, and the rumors began swirling as to what occurred. The exact reason behind this punishment is unclear at this stage, but many, including the streamer himself, believes Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to be the culprit. A Twitter account that actively tracks streamer bans revealed the unfortunate news, and the former Overwatch pro soon took to Twitter with a response.

Lengyel went live today under the “Just Chatting” category and reached 60K viewers, where he was viewing and reacting to videos. The 2020 Summer Olympics came across his radar, and he watched footage of the international sporting event. Twitch then abruptly removed Lengyel’s channel, and his live broadcast went dead. The details as sparse, but the streamer and many others believe he suffered a dreaded DMCA strike, resulting in the punishment.
xQc Reacts to the Ban
I THINK I GOT MY CHANNEL LIVE-DMCA’d. I TOOK NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FINE. REALLY DIDN’T EXPECT IT BUT I COUL’VE EASILY AVOIDED THIS. SORRY FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED INCLUDING THE VIEWERS. I’LL BE BETTER/SMARTER NEXT TIME AND FOLLOW GUIDELINES MORE STRICTLY

The popular streamer took to Twitter with his reaction to yet another Twitch ban. In an all-caps-laden rant, Lengyel apologized and promised to be better in the future.
“I THINK I GOT MY CHANNEL LIVE-DMCA’d. I TOOK NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FINE. REALLY DIDN’T EXPECT IT BUT I COUL’VE EASILY AVOIDED THIS. SORRY FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED INCLUDING THE VIEWERS. I’LL BE BETTER/SMARTER NEXT TIME AND FOLLOW GUIDELINES MORE STRICTLY.”
It seems there’s some sarcasm laced in Lengyel’s response, but he’ll now have to sit on the sidelines and perhaps appeal the ban. This is not the first instance of Twitch disciplining the personality. The platform issued Lengyel a temporary ban last year for cheating in the Twitch Rivals “Glitchcon” event. However, DMCA is a much more severe offense on the surface. The media industry has been relentless of late in punishing streamers for listening to popular songs and watching videos without proper permission.
Unfortunately for Lengyel, Twitch is notorious for not publicly acknowledging these punishments, as in the case of Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm. We’ll ultimately have to wait and see what comes of the ongoing situation with another of Twitch’s most recognizable stars.
