Every tournament will have a $50,000 (~£36,329) prize pool, with the first event scheduled to take place on August 16th. According to the release, the maximum prize pool for a winning team is $25,000 (~£18,164) per tournament

As the event’s official data partner, GRID will integrate its solutions throughout the year. This includes providing broadcast visualisations and data distribution. Eden Esports has also partnered with VisitMalta to be the series’ title partner.

Moritz Maurer, CEO of GRID Esports, commented: “Eden Esports is a longstanding partner of GRID and known for their great innovation in esports event experiences. The Malta Vibes Knockout Series is a great competition format and we are happy to be a part of it.”

Alongside the financial incentive, the two finalists of each tournament will also get a bootcamp package that includes a stay at the five-star InterContinental Malta hotel. The teams can use the package anytime until a year after the competition.

It has also been revealed that Malta Vibes events will become part of Elisa’s Champion of Champions circuit, with points being distributed to participating teams.

Sergey Bidzan, CEO of Eden Esports, added: “I am very excited to announce the return of the Malta Vibes series in 2021! This time with a new and refreshing knockout format, a wider distribution of the prize pool, and being a part of the Elisa Champions of Champions ranking circuit with further invites to the recently announced new series of LAN events.

“We believe that with every new opportunity created for the CS:GO scene, we are slowly but surely moving towards our ultimate goal — shortening the gap between Tier one and Tier two organisations and growing our niche of the industry.”

Malta Vibes’s tournaments will see 32 teams initially fight through a single-elimination tournament. Team’s that are victorious in the first Round of 16 will win $1000 (~£726). Following that, an additional eight teams will be added to the bracket with a second Round of 16 commencing.

The release states that the prize pool will continue to increase until the $16,000 (~£11,625) final takes place. All matches will be best-of-three.

Esports Insider: Tournaments that provide greater incentives for CS:GO organisations are always a plus for the scene. The prize of also acquiring a bootcamp is a unique activation that provides players with different experiences, whilst also promoting Malta. In addition, GRID’s data solution should bolster the tournament’s broadcasts.
