BLAST teams up with Razer for Apex Legends event

Esports tournament organiser BLAST has announced a partnership with gaming peripherals manufacturer Razer for its upcoming BLAST Titans Apex Legends event.

According to the release, the partnership looks to integrate Razer into the competition through a number of activations, including product giveaways, player-led content opportunities, and in-game branding.

In addition, Razer will also be integrated into a match and tournament MVP activation that will occur during the broadcast.

Oliver Clarke, Head of Brand Partnerships at BLAST, commented: “Razer is a well-recognised brand in the esports and gaming space – it’s great to have their backing and support ahead of our first-ever BLAST Titans event this week. Apex Legends has a large and passionate community of gamers, one we look forward to engaging with through a variety of exciting digital activations involving Razer.”

Set to kick off on July 23rd, the inaugural BLAST Titans tournament will feature 40 European teams battling it out for a share of the event’s €40,000 (~£34,337) prize pool.

The first tournament weekend will see a double elimination battle royale competition. The top 20 teams will advance to the second weekend and will face each other in Arenas, a new game mode that was recently introduced in Apex Legends.

Flo Gutierrez, Global Esports Director at Razer, added: “Over the last few years, BLAST has positioned themselves as one of the top esports event organisers worldwide, with incredible production value, great casting and engaging formats.

“It is with great pleasure that we are supporting them on the launch and expansion of BLAST Titans, created for the growing Apex Legends community. We can’t wait to see the best EU teams battling it out for the very first BLAST Titans crown!”

Earlier this week, the tournament organiser also announced a partnership with ecommerce company Amazon and streaming service Twitch. The deal aims to provide a better viewing experience for the BLAST Titans event, which is being broadcasted exclusively on Twitch.

Esports Insider says: BLAST is not holding back with its choice of partners for the organiser’s new Apex Legends venture, which says a lot about the company’s intentions. Given the great job that BLAST has done with other esports titles, BLAST Titans could potentially be Apex Legends’s premier European league.
