The collaboration comes after GR Racing and Wolves Esports fielded an entry in the virtual edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race. The event was held in 2020 as a replacement for the real-world race that was cancelled due to COVID-19.

According to a release, two drivers have also joined the team. 23-year-old Adam Maguire returns to the organisation, having already represented the team at the virtual Le Mans event, while 22-year-old Dutch driver Liam de Waal will be his teammate.

Sim racing is the sixth esport that Wolves Esports has entered into since its inception. The organisation fields players and rosters in FIFA, Rocket League, and a range of mobile titles.

The newly-formed Wolves GR Esports team will make its competitive debut in the Formula Pro Series, which is played on the Factor 2 sim racing platform. The opening round of the championship is taking place on July 19th on the virtual iteration of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

Esports Insider says: The popularity of sim racing during the pandemic skyrocketed and as the world begins to open up, its popularity shows no signs of slowing down with a number of organisations still looking to get involved. Wolves Esports is the latest to join a long list of orgs that are already involved in what is one of the fastest-growing esports in the industry.
