10 Jul Fortnite: Gabe, Tahi & Sprite Win $10K Team New Age Tournament
ESTNN recaps the results from Team New Age’s $10K USD trios tournament.
In the wake of Fortnite’s inaugural FNCS All-Star Showdown, the competitive scene has remained relatively quiet. The team at Epic Games went on a brief summer break, and professional players needed to fill the gap. With no significant tournaments to speak of, the esports organization Team New Age offered a $10K USD prize pool to some of the world’s best.
Thirty-three teams received an invitation to the competition. Some of the marquee names included defending FNCS Champs ENDL8SS Reverse2k, ENDL8SS Mero, ENDL8SS Deyy, and former winners G2 Jahq, LG Slackes and 1% Acorn. Six matches would determine the grand champion. Let’s see how the action went down.

Team New Age had a tight race and an exciting tournament on their hand until the closing Victory Royale screen. Six different teams collected wins, but the story came down to only three. Ultimately, the Believer Beach team of Sprite, Elite Gabe and 9LIVES Tahi won a close fight. The trio earned a Victory Royale in game one and rode that momentum to 191 points overall. That point total put them ahead of second, granting them $3K USD total and the first significant tournament triumph this season.
Cented’s Team Finishes Second … Again
THEY OWN LOW GROUND 😎

Perennial second-place finishers — TSM FTX Commandment, FaZe Cented and NRG Edgey — continued that narrative with another runner-up. This time, the outstanding trio reached 190 points and completed one Victory Royale. Cented took to Twitter after the tournament, stating, “I’m gonna freak the f*** out there’s no way we just got 2nd again.” Unfortunately for this team, that would be the case. The three-time FNCS runners-up found themselves in a familiar position once again, but $2.4K USD is not a bad consolation prize.
Season 5 Champs Secure Top Three
THE SLURPY TRIO CLOSES THE GAP 👊

FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 5 winners G2 Jahq, 1% Acorn and LG Slackes rounded out the top-three with 184 points. They claimed first in game five, putting them three points behind the leaders. A poor showing in game six landed them in third, netting them a total of $1.5K USD.
Here is the final leaderboard for teams that finished inside the money:
Game Winners (Each Collects $300 USD)
Gabe, Tahi and Sprite
Kn1pher, Jays and Donie
Cented, Edgey and Commandment
Reverse2k, Deyy and Mero
Jahq, Acorn and Slackes
Stretch, EpikWhale and Arkhram
The competitive scene is still nearly three weeks away from FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 7. A lot can happen in that time frame as trios worldwide prepare for another $3M USD gauntlet. If Team New Age’s event is any indication, Season 7 will be an outstanding one for competitive Fortnite.
