17 Jun LA Thieves Make Last Minute Roster Change Due To Missed COVID Test
The Thieves make an unexpected roster change just an hour before their scheduled match
The Call of Duty League returned to LAN for the first time in over a year this week. All 12 teams gathered in the esports stadium in Arlington, Texas for the first LAN Major of the year, and fans are more than excited to watch the action.
While no fans are in attendance, players and staff were required by the CDL to take COVID tests the night before the event, with a negative result providing them access to the venue. Because of this, the LA Thieves have made a last-minute sub, replacing Cuyler “Huke” Garland with Zack “Drazah” Jordan.
Drazah in, Huke out
Ahead of their match against rivals LA Guerrillas tonight, LA Thieves announced the substitution. They said, “As part of the CDL’s COVID guidelines, players are to be tested the night before the match to determine eligibility. Huke was not available to be tested at the dedicated time. We attempted to get him tested earlier today but were unable to get results back in time for the match. Due to the missed COVID test, Huke will sit out of today’s games.”
This sees the LA Thieves make yet another roster change, and have to play with no practice at the Major. The Thieves take on LA Guerrillas tonight at 9:30 pm ET.
