Enryu replaces Prieme Ejay “PlayHard” Banquil. With the team announcing he was leaving the roster on June 13.
PlayHard played for Neon Esports since 2019 but was forced to leave due to the team’s poor performances. PlayHard’s trouble began at the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021. But performance issues continued through Season 2 of the 2021 DPC. The team competed in SEA’s Upper Division, but failed to earn a slot for the recent WePlay Esports AniMajor.
Enryu will be playing in the offlane. Forcing team captain Andre “ctm” Ong into the soft support position left by PlayHard’s departure.
Enryu helped the team win the title in the Moon Studio Asian Showdown; which ran from May 6 – June 16 with a USD $17,000 prize pool.
He began his career as a Dota 2 professional player with Poseidon, becoming part of noted Philippines teams like Kingpins Esports, Vice Esports and South Built Esports. He was also part of Vice’s successful run in the SEA Upper Division during Season 1 of the DPC.
With the changes in its lineup, Neon Esports hopes to duplicate or even better its top-six finish in the ONE Esports Singapore Major last April. The TI 10 regional qualifier is slated for June 30 – July 3, 2021.
OB.Neon’s roster for the TI 10 qualifiers is:
John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas
Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer
Michael Roi “Enryu” Ladines
Gabriel “skem” Ong
Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla
