26 May Fortnite: FNCS Season 6 Finals Preview — NA East Edition
ESTNN analyzes the NA East FNCS Season 6 Finals.
The Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) in Chapter 2 – Season 6 is sure to deliver on all levels of hype this weekend. Trios have worked tirelessly since March to prepare themselves for this moment. It hasn’t been easy; three qualifiers, the semi-finals and Reboot Round all helped set the stage for an outstanding conclusion. Seven server regions will compete for the massive prize pool, but only seven individual trios can reap the most prestigious of rewards.
Today, ESTNN will preview the NA East region, which always stands out for its wide range of personalities and skillsets. Thirty-three teams have earned their way into the dance for the chance to compete for a share of $3M USD and the Axe of Champions. It won’t be a walk in the park, but these 33 finalists are up to the task of achieving greatness. Be sure to check out our viewership guide to learn the format, prize pool and start times of all seven regions!

Competitive Fortnite fans could not have asked for a better group of players in the Season 6 Finals. We could make a case for any of the teams above walking away with the Axe of Champions and $150K USD. However, that’s not any fun, so let’s highlight some of the teams with the strongest chance of finishing inside the top three.

The defending FNCS Champions have not experienced much adversity since claiming the top spot in Season 5. That win netted Acorn, Jahq and Slackes $150K USD, the Axe of Champions and a guaranteed place in the Season 6 Finals. Despite the perks of being a champion, these three have remained atop the pack through another long competitive season.
The reigning champions won the FaZe Elite Cup, the first Trio Cash Cup, and the inaugural DreamHack Cash Cup Extra to begin Season 6. It was a run for the ages that should come as no surprise to those who understand how impressive Acorn, Jahq and Slackes are as a unit. They’ll have an uncontested Slurpy Swamp for all 12 of their matches. Not a single viewer would be surprised to see these three on top once again.
Commandment, Cented & Edgey

It’s challenging not to pick Commandment, Cented and Edgey to win the Season 6 Finals. These three have achieved back-to-back runner-up finishes in the last two Fortnite Champion Series events. No meta can deter this dominant triumvirate, who have been together since Chapter 2 – Season 3. That’s ten months of high-level play with results to match, but the FNCS triumph has eluded them.
The heat map above indicates that Commandment, Cented and Edgey will have Misty Meadows uncontested. We can expect robust loadouts for all three players in most of their 12 matches, including maximum shield, building materials and fishing spots aplenty. Their closest immediate Storm Surge options are East at Weather Station, South at Camp Cod and West the Flush Factory and Dam split. There’s reason to believe that Cented, Commandment and Edgey will break their second-place curse with some zone luck.
Degen, Ajerss & Skqttles
1st place BACK TO BACK AHHHHHH LETS GO pic.twitter.com/GhDNM0lJof
— FS Degen (@DegenFN) May 11, 2021
Degen, Ajerss and Skqttles have grown together as teammates since Chapter 2 – Season 5. They have multiple Cash Cup wins and a sixth-place finish in FNCS Season 5 to their credit over the last four months. Season 6 could be their time to shine as they look to claim the Axe of Champions. This team is the perfect example of players who fly under the radar but could win any tournament.
The NA East trio has staked their claim on the Orchard Split, located north on the map. Barring unforeseen complications, Degen, Ajerss and Skqttles will have decent inventories and Storm Surge targets at Steamy Stacks and Craggy Cliffs. If no other team catches them while they are split, the week one victors should contend for the Season 6 Championship.
Gabe, Tahi & Sprite
YOU’RE NUTS!!!! @spritefn@Tahifn @gabefn_ and @spritefn take the first Reboot Round game of NAE with an amazing solo clutch and are now into the FNCS Finals. pic.twitter.com/DFtI5uOwdv

A few weeks ago, many would never have thought that Gabe, Tahi and Sprite would show up their Sweaty Sands rivals Clix, Bugha and Bizzle in the FNCS Semi-Finals. Despite dominating their sworn enemies off the spawn, Gabe, Tahi and Sprite’s claim to Sweaty Sands only led to a seat in the Reboot Round. Sprite clutched a 1v3 in the first Reboot Round match to carry his team into the Season 6 Finals in unbelievable fashion.
Momentum is hard to overlook, and it’s something that Gabe, Tahi and Sprite have on their side heading into the grueling finalè. In one weekend, they defeated Clix’s team convincingly and won arguably the most challenging Fortnite match. Now, they’ll stroll into “Tahi’s Sands” uncontested with absolute confidence. This is their moment to put an exclamation point on their breakout season.
Bucke, Khanada & MackWood

— BBG Bucke (@BuckeFPS) May 18, 2021
The rhetoric of late in the competitive scene speaks of Craggy Cliffs being the best point of interest in Fortnite. Bucke, Khanada and MackWood, who finished third last season, are the sole proprietors of Craggy Cliffs and have perfected their strategies. Combine Fortnite’s best drop spot with three powerhouse players, and that might be the recipe for the Axe of Champions.
Bucke, Khanada and MackWood are equally skilled in trash talk and their mechanical abilities. Nothing seems to deter these three. It’s not easy to identify flaws in a team that has won two Cash Cups, a DreamHack Cash Cup Extra and plans to coast into the game’s best POI and walk out unscathed with top-tier loot. MackWood could indeed collect his second FNCS title if all goes according to plan.
Contested Drop Spots, Strategies & Adjustments
The Kami Split, Retail Row, Stealthy Stronghold and The Spire appear to be the only locations that will see early-game action based on the map above. More than one trio has committed to these drops, but that could change at any time throughout the grueling 12-match gauntlet. Past tournaments are the best indicators that trios may alter their strategy if the first few matches do not go according to plan. It’s also worth keeping an eye on methodical off-spawn fights. Occasionally, teams within striking distance of first will drop on a team above them to swing the leaderboard.
In general, teams are looking for Purple Pump Shotguns or Tactical Shotguns, Assault Rifles, and healing items such as Floppers, Shield Potions, Mini Shield Potions etc. Those items mixed with smart rotations, timely building material refreshes and a bit of zone luck will produce the next FNCS Champion.
