24 May CSGO: Valve Opens Biddings For Majors In 2022 And 2023
Two Majors per year and one RMR for every region targeted by Valve.
After the long interval brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic, the Major circuit is returning. Beginning in the fall with the $2 million PGL Major Stockholm from October 23 to November 7.
Valve, however, is looking beyond this event. They’ve just announced they’re open to accepting bids from tournament organizers for proposals for their upcoming CS:GO circuit. Currently, Valve has slated two Majors in 2022 and another two in 2023 as part of the open bids. The two Majors will be held in May and in November each year. Valve also announced they intend to help organizers sponsor one Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament per region.
What kind of support are Valve offering TOs?
Before the Majors, an RMR will be held in each of the five regions (North America, South America, Europe, CIS and Asia/Oceania). Valve promises to provide support for the prize pool, travel and accommodation for these events. Which are all to be held offline. Valve has indicated RMR’s will need to be held by early April and late September.
For the Majors, Valve is targeting late May for the first and early November for the second. A development that has already spawned plenty of excitement in the esports community. With fans beginning to drum up support for their preferred host cities.
Valve has also told tournament organizers to look toward holding events in time zones that boast the largest segment of CS:GO viewership; 16:00 CET and 21:00 CET
Organizers have until the end of June to send in their proposals for the 2022 Majors and the corresponding RMR’s. The winning hosts will be selected the following month. Bids for the 2023 Majors and RMR’s will be accepted until the end of November, but the selection process and announcement dates are still forthcoming.
