Valorant Challenger’s Tour 2021: Stage 2 Masters – Reykjavík Preview

The next major tournament of the VCT is upon us!

The first international LAN tournament of Valorant is starting next week! After countless qualifiers, and two Challengers tournaments across seven Major regions, it all comes down to 10 teams and one competition to determine who is the best Valorant Masters team in Stage 2.

The tournament will follow a double-elimination bracket format. All matches will be best-of-three, except the Grand Final held on May 30, which will be a best-of-five series. The top seeded teams from the largest regions, Europe and North America, were seeded straight into the second round. The rest of the teams were seeded randomly, but in a way that no teams from the same region could meet in the first round.

The 10 teams participating are Sentinels and Version1 from NA, Team Liquid and Fnatic from EU, Team Vikings and Sharks Esports from Brazil, NUTURN Gaming from Korea, KRÜ Esports from Latin America, Crazy Racoon from Japan and X10 Esports from Southeast-Asia.

The strongest contender for the top stop is Team Liquid, closely followed by NA’s best team, Sentinels. Sentinels took a big hit when one of their players, Jay “sinatraa” Won, got suspended. But they pulled through and got first place in the North American Challengers Finals. Another team to watch out for is Brazil’s Team Vikings, who absolutely powered through the Brazil Finals. In fact, they only lost one map in the whole tournament.

The teams will be competing for the $600,000 prize pool, where the champion of the tournament will receive $200,000. The Stage 2 Masters will be held from May 24 to 30, without a live audience for safety reasons. You can tune in through YouTube and Twitch, and the broadcast will be available in a number of languages!
