14 May HeroBase founded in Brazil with sponsors Itaú Bank and AORUS
Brazilian Fortnite content creator João ‘Flakes Power’ Sampaio announced the foundation of HeroBase, an esports and content creation organisation in partnership with Brazilian bank Itaú Unibanco and sponsored by gaming gear brand AORUS.
The HeroBase mansion, located in Joinville, Santa Catarina, will house Sampaio and other content creators who play Fortnite. This is the first esports partnership for Itaú Bank, which will create customised environments in the mansion. AORUS will provide gear for the game room.

The organisation will initially focus only on Fortnite and its competitive scene, alongside content creation. However, in a press conference attended by Esports Insider, Sampaio talked about moving into other esports categories later on.
HeroBase mansion will include a game room and a guest’s bedroom, creating an opportunity for content creators or professional players from other areas of Brazil to stay and produce content.
Sampaio will live alongside other Fortnite players for the next month until a new resident is revealed. Among them will be former Cloud9 player Nicollas ‘Nicks’ Polonio and content creators Mayara ‘Manteiga’ da Silveira and Antonio Pedro ‘Toniket’ Soares.
Sampaio commented: “Everything I achieved came from creating content and today I feel that I need to share what I have learned by teaching other creators,” he said, as translated by Esports Insider. “I started with Toniket, who was my neighbor, and today I am proud to see everything he has achieved.
“So, I want to make Brazil a standard in the game, [work with] competitive people, and solidify my dream of being an influencer who really makes a difference within the community,” he continued. “All of this couldn’t get any better than having Itaú with us in this endeavor, definitely embracing the universe of games and esports.”

Robson Harada, Head of Growth Marketing at Itaú added: “The center of our work is in people and we believe that this is the best time to approach a segment as creative and consolidated as games and esports are.
“With this partnership, we want to listen to this community to understand their needs and offer solutions co-created with them,” Harada continued. “In addition, the HeroBase concept is very strong— today’s base will be the heroes of the future—we want to support people in all their stages of personal and professional growth ”
Esports Insider says: Fortnite is still unknown territory for many organisations in Brazil. Having solid names like Nicks and Flakes Power in the mix helps to gather new content creators or professional players for the organisation. Besides that, strong partners like Itaú Unibanco and AORUS will help the team to create a strong portfolio of sponsors.
