Fortnite Battle Royale’s version of a Flare Gun has returned in Chapter 2 – Season 6.

After first becoming a weapon and enemy player marker in Chapter 2 – Season 3, the Flare Gun entered Fortnite’s dreaded vault where items go to collect dust. The Flare Gun is back after a brief three-season hiatus. While it’s not in the loot pool, players can acquire the returning weapon in exchange for gold from two characters located on the map. Let’s break down where you can locate the Flare Gun in Season 6 and how to acquire it.

Where to Find the Flare Gun

Those looking to get their hands on the Flare Gun will need some gold. As shown above, the Blaze and Raptor non-player characters (NPCs) sell the Flare Gun. The weapon will cost you 245 gold bars, and it only requires a brief dialogue with those NPCs. Once paying the small fee, the Flare Gun will appear in your inventory for use throughout that entire game until you either win or fall to an enemy.

The Flare Gun’s primary function is to mark enemy players over its general radius when fired into the air. Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey discovered that the weapon also pings animals beneath its effective area. Besides those two methods, the Flare Gun also deals damage to players and can light wooden structures and trees on fire.

Epic Games has been adding additional weapons and items into the game this season. Most notably, the Exotic Unstable Bow and Mythic Explosive Bow became new additions in update 14.30. The Flare Gun is now on that list with more likely to follow.
