03 May CoD: Controversial SBMM Warzone Site Reopens After Activision Shutdown
The site has reopened just months after a shutdown request from Activision
Skill Based Matchmaking has been a hot topic in the Warzone community since its release, and many helpful tools have led us to believe it is in the game. SBMM Warzone was an extremely helpful tool, allowing you to see the Skill Rating of your lobby, including the K/D ratio of all players included.
However, on March 26, Activision requested SBMM Warzone to shut down or face legal action. SBMM Warzone complied with Activison’s request, but this came with an exceptional community reaction, calling for the site to return.
SBMM Warzone Returns with a New Face
Now, SBMM Warzone has made the decision to return, this time as a new site, WZ Stats. In their announcement, they said:
“We’ve tried to contact Activision multiple times, even through our lawyers. They are yet to reach out. We’ve done our best to show our good faith.
With the huge support from the community, we’ve decided to reopen the website.
SBMMWZ is dead. Long live WZ Stats.”
The site returns in a slightly different form, acting as more of a stat tracking tool rather than a looby skill tracking tool, becoming a site similar to something such as Warzone Tracker. While we assume this was done to allow them to return under a new name, we will definitely miss the lobby tracking features SBMM Warzone provided.
Whether we see more legal action from Activision is yet to be known. However, it’ll definitely cause massive discussion in the COD community if there is.
