We take a look at the League of Legends Wild Rift World Championship in Japan.
League Of Legends: Wild Rift has been available in regional public beta for several months. Since the beginning, Riot Games has made no less than 60 champions available to players and continues to add more regularly via in-game competitions.
Championships planned for 2021
Less than a month ago, Riot Games Japan unveiled its plans for 2021, including three major tournaments in Japan.
While one of the three will be by invitation only, the other two will offer open qualifications. According to the company’s press release, the winner of the final Wild Rift tournament in Japan, which is expected to take place between July and October, will apparently qualify directly for the World Championship, which is expected to take place at the end of this year.
As for the first three tournaments, the first one will be by invitation and will take place on April 24th. Eight different teams are expected to headline it. The second tournament is scheduled to start on 29 May. Being an open tournament, registration started on 6 April and will close on 10 May. This tournament will be entirely online and will feature a cash prize of 3 million yen or €23,200. A nice sum for the victory. The third and last tournament will be regional and will take place from July to October. The cash prize goes up to 9 million yen or €70,000. The event will be restricted to Japan. The qualifiers and heats will take place online, while the grand finale of the tournament will be a physical event.
A championship that comes after Patch 2.2
Patch 2.2 has arrived, allowing American players to join the game. Players who will have taken the time to clean their game consoles or their mobile phones. Indeed, did you know that following a study conducted by Betway Insider, it was discovered that the “On” button of a PC is one of the dirtiest buttons, all consoles included?
League Of Legends Patch 2.2: Wild Rift with an event called “Wild Welcome”. The event is designed to help new US players get into the swing of things.
It will include brand new champions and a few other free rewards. While the patch comes with its share of freebies and new characters, the update has also allowed Riot Games to accommodate player requests by introducing new non-human champions to bring diversity to the game.
Classes and types have also been expanded to give more options, but more importantly to force players already accustomed to the game to rethink their strategy, or build a much more effective one.
And if the event is short-lived, it will be quickly replaced by the next one. Entitled “Master Of the Hunt”, it should be released soon.
And finally, the ARAM mode should also be coming soon to Wild Rift. This game mode consists of a single lane, where players have to fight until one side gets rid of Nexus. This mode is ideal for trying out new champions.
