PhantomL0rd Wins Lawsuit Against Twitch

PhantomL0rd is set to receive $20,720 in total damages.

James “PhantomL0rd” Varga’s lawsuit against Twitch had been going on since 2019, when he charged that Twitch’s ban against him in 2016 for allegedly misleading viewers with regards to skin gambling on CS:GO was unsubstantiated and false. Twitch was undertaking a crackdown against gambling streams at that time.

Yesterday, PhantomL0rd announced on his Twitter, “I won my lawsuit versus Twitch on all counts!”

The streamer was seeking $35 million in damages for lost revenue. His streams on the platform had once reached 143,000 unique concurrent viewers, which was a Twitch record.

Very rarely has a punished streamer taken on a legal battle against Twitch and won. The $20,720.34 in total damages awarded by the court was way short of the $35 million, but PhantomL0rd celebrates a moral victory nonetheless. He concludes his tweet by stating, “This is a win for ALL streamers! Twitch can’t bully, lie & treat streamers unfairly the way they have for years!”

Twitch has yet to issue a statement on the results of the case.
