OWL 2021 Power Rankings – #7 Florida Mayhem

Florida Mayhem places 7th in our Overwatch League 2021 power rankings.

At 7th place of our Overwatch League 2021 power rankings is the new roster of Florida Mayhem. The team kept some of its former players and added some fresh blood from other Overwatch League teams, as well as a new rookie from Overwatch Contenders.

Florida Mayhem 2021 Roster Preview

Tank:

  • Beom-jun “Gargoyle” Lee
  • Min-seok “OGE” Son

Beom-jun “Gargoyle” Lee remains as the Florida Mayhem off-tank. Last season, he helped the team place 2nd in the May Melee tournament and 4th in the Overwatch League 2020 North America Playoffs.

Min-seok “OGE” Son is the new Florida Mayhem main tank player. It is his third shot in the Overwatch League, after a year with Dallas Fuel and another with Los Angeles Gladiators. These two seasons were complicated for OGE, who didn’t manage to go past 5th place in all League tournaments.

Support:

  • Nam-jin “Gangnamjin” Kang
  • Sung-jun “SLIME” Kim

The support line of Florida Mayhem, just like the tanks, includes one former Florida player and a new one from the Overwatch League. Nam-jin “Gangnamjin” Kang stays with the team one more season, following his good performance during the Overwatch League 2020 Season and his domination of the Overwatch Contenders with RunAway.

Joining Gangnamjin is Sung-jun “SLIME” Kim, a main support player and also former RunAway member. SLIME played with Vancouver Titans in the Overwatch League 2019 Season, reaching 2nd place in the Playoffs. He then changed teams to join Seoul Dynasty and managed to reach once again 2nd place in Playoffs Grand Finals. The twice Vice-Champion of the Overwatch League is now joining Florida Mayhem for the 2021 season.

DPS:

  • Sang-bum “BQB” Lee
  • Jun-ki “Yaki” Kim
  • Seung-hun “Checkmate” Baek

Sang-bum “BQB” Lee and Jun-ki “Yaki” Kim are two historic Florida Mayhem players. BQB joined the team in 2018 and stayed with the Mayhem despite their last place in the Overwatch League 2019 Regular Season. Yaki joined the following year, as the team redeemed itself and finished 4th in the Overwatch League 2020 North America Playoffs.

The new DPS player of Florida Mayhem this season is Seung-hun “Checkmate” Baek. He previously played in Contenders, placing 4th in the Overwatch Contenders 2020 Season 1: Korea with BATTLICA. The 19-year-old player doesn’t have any prior Overwatch League experience but impressed the Florida Mayhem during their open tryouts for DPS players.

Florida Mayhem 2021 Power Rankings

Florida Mayhem took some risks this season. They released most of their former roster, which managed to reach 4th place in the Overwatch League 2020 North America Playoffs. However, they signed two of the best League players: OGE and SLIME, respectively as main tank and main support player of the team. On the DPS line, Checkmate still has to show his worth on the League.

Florida Mayhem takes 7th place in our Overwatch League 2021 power rankings, but could easily place higher or lower depending on how fast they find their balance in the League.
