CS:GO: VSM Unbanned As Valve Changes VAC Ban Rule

Valve introduces new rule for VAC banned players.

New guidelines issued by Valve have rewritten the rules for VAC banned professional players. According to the new rule, players are now eligible to take part in a Valve-sponsored event, if they’ve served a ban for over five years.

As the CS:GO Majors come closer, Valve made amendments to the rules, making it a tad more flexible for players. The VAC bans can extend over eight years now. A length that could be considered unfair for players looking to take part in professional events. Especially for players who received the ban a long time ago. This is the situation arising with Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen, who was disqualified after they found a VAC banned profile connected to him.

Although Jamppi now plays Valorant professionally for Team Liquid, he thanked CS:GO in a tweet.

Unlike Jamppi, Brazilian player Vinicius “vsm’’ Moreira has benefited the most from this change. Vsm was VAC banned back in 2013, but this change has made him eligible for Valve-sponsored events. It’s these small updates that are keeping the game fair and flexible for professional players.

PGL Major Stockholm, starting on 23 October, will be the next big target for teams entering tournaments in the upcoming months.
