12 Apr Bance Awarded CDL Stage 2 Player Of The Stage
Benjamin Bance dominated and deservedly took home POTS.
Stage 2 of the 2021 Call of Duty League season was one full of surprises. While we all knew Toronto Ultra could be the dark horse team we saw last year, they started the stage 0-2. However, they bounced back and took home the Major, defeating Atlanta FaZe 5-3.
Player of the Stage was awarded to Benjamin “Bance” Bance. The Englishman dominated in the Major Final, and his 1.11 overall K/D over eight maps was exceptional. This underdog story from Bance however, is special. Bance revealed that during Ultra’s poor run, he messaged his fiancee saying, “I’m crap I might as well retire” after receiving over 500 tweets telling him to bench himself.
sent this to my fiancée being deadly serious after starting stage 2 0-2 and receiving over 500 tweets to bench myself. What a turn around and I cannot thank my team enough! It may not seem like much but this win means a lot to me ❤️ pic.twitter.com/Bw0iQhgVKO

This is something that, as Call of Duty fans, we never want to see. However, Bance made an exceptional comeback, and the family-like feeling at Ultra showed in the Final. Their teamwork was exceptional, and Bance was fully deserving of POTS.
Bance’s Dominance
A 1.11 Overall K/D, 1.06 HP, 1.42 SnD and 1.12 in Control saw him completely run through Atlanta FaZe, especially in Search and Destroy. Bance made Express his home, going 10-0 in Game Seven of a Major final, an unbelievable feat and something that no one expected.
Toronto Ultra and the Call of Duty League now get a week off before returning to action on April 22nd with Stage 3.
