CS:GO: Extra Salt Defeated PaiN To Win The VENN Invitational

Extra Salt Directly qualifies for BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.


Extra Salt have won the VENN Invitational. Earning themselves a direct ticket the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. They’ll also receive a $25,000 participation fee, plus a free bootcamp in Europe as they make the trip for the BLAST event; where $160,000 and two spots at the Spring Finals will be on offer. They’re also set to attend the FunSpark ULTI Europe Final, DreamHack Masters Spring, and IEM Summer in the coming months.

Held from March 26-28, the Venn Invitational tournament saw  eight teams had seeded into two best-of-one GSL groups. From there, the top two in each group headed to a single elimination bracket.

Then, in the Semi finals Extra Salt edged two map victory over Triumph. Meanwhile PaiN had to struggle to fight and book the spot against ChocoCheck. Extra Salt dropped just two maps and managed to win five series in a row.

At one point in the game Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek had the entirety of paying gaming cover by himself which had a large impact on the team. He showed an incredible performance, with a flawless 23-0 K-D thirteen rounds into the match.

PaiN was in the lead with a 16-7 win on their pick of Inferno, putting themselves in a strong position to score their first win against Extra Salt. Once the sides swapped over however, Extra Salt were on the comeback trail, conceding just two rounds en route to a 16-13 finish to force a Nuke decider.
