22 Mar CoD: CDL 2021 Power Rankings After Stage 2 Week 1
Here’s our new, updated Power Rankings for CDL 2021.
Stage 2 of the Call of Duty League season kicked off last week with the Toronto Ultra Home Series. This week brought many surprises, so here’s how our Power Rankings have changed.
12. Seattle Surge (-1)
While they took a 3-1 victory over the Florida Mutineers, Seattle Surge go bottom of our Power Rankings. This game was completely down to Prestinni’s performance, and he need to be more consistent throughout the season.
11. London Royal Ravens (+1)
A dominant 3-0 win over the LA Guerrillas puts London up to 11th. PaulEhx had a solid debut, while it was Zed who really performed by putting up 32 kills in Map one. However, this is just their first game, and we need to see some more consistency before they can move any higher.
10. Minnesota Rokkr (-4)
Back to Back 3-0 defeats for Minnesota Rokkr doesn’t look good. They looked extremely unorganized and lost on the map, allowing both Paris and Florida to make dominant wins. While SnD was their backbone, they’ve now started to drop them, meaning that Minnesota looks in real trouble.
9. Paris Legion (+1)
While their 3-0 win over Minnesota was impressive, they’re still not ready to compete with the likes of OpTic Chicago after their 3-1 loss. Paris Legion look good however, and the SMG duo of Fire and Classic could be a vital part of their future wins.
8. Toronto Ultra (+1)
Insight had an excellent debut into the Toronto Ultra roster, breaking the CDL record for most kills in Search and Destroy with 18. However, they failed to close out the series against LA Thieves, and the 3-0 loss to FaZe was dominant. Ultra may need some time to settle in, but they’ll need to put up results soon.
7. Los Angeles Guerrillas (-)
The Los Angeles Guerrillas came out flat against London Royal Ravens in their only match of Week 1, resulting in a 3-0 loss. This was dominant from London, and LAG looked bemused by the plays from the Royal Ravens. However, we know what LAG can do, and we expect them to bounce back in Week 2.
6. Florida Mutineers (+2)
The Florida Mutineers might finally be playing near to their true potential. Skyz really dominated for the first time this season in Week 1, and that’s something that Florida fans will love to see. If the Mutineers can keep this up, they’ll be a dangerous dark horse team further in the season.
5. LA Thieves (-)
A 3-2 win against Toronto Ultra saw the Thieves start off Stage 2 with a win, but not a convincing one. This was followed by a reverse sweep from New York Subliners, but in a series where New York could’ve, and possibly should’ve won all five maps. LA Thieves obviously have the talent, it just isn’t quite showing yet.
4. New York Subliners (-)
They started the week with a 3-1 defeat to Atlanta FaZe, but ended it with a great reverse sweep against LA Thieves. Clayster stuck to his usual self, falling off the map but still completely dominating the opposition as he led the Subliners to yet another win. New York are the most resilient team in the league, and with two reverse sweeps already you can’t count them out.
3. Dallas Empire (-1)
Dallas Empire keep being pushed close in series, and their game five round 11 win against Seattle Surge proves this. They move down a spot in our Power Rankings due to them not being able to close out any massive wins recently. This may be due to the mindset of the team as they’re just pool play matches, or it could be something more worrying.
2. OpTic Chicago (+1)
With Dallas Empire moving down, OpTic Chicago move up. OpTic looks excellent in respawns this year. Their 11-6 Hardpoint record and 9-1 Control record are outstanding, and OpTic should be dominating. If they can brush up on their SnD, they could challenge FaZe for Championships.
1. Atlanta FaZe (-)
The Major 1 Champions remain at the top following two great wins against New York and Toronto. FaZe now hold the record for longest win streak in the CDL at 10 matches, and they don’t look to be stopping anytime soon.
