WePlay Esports secures DAZN broadcast deal for WUFL

Media holding company and tournament organiser WePlay Esports has announced a partnership with sports subscription video streaming service DAZN to broadcast the 2021 WePlay Ultimate Fighting League (WUFL).

As a result, the WUFL will be available in over 200 countries via DAZN’s global platform, with viewers able to watch the esports competition across a range of devices, such as smart TVs, consoles, and mobiles.

The fighting game esports competition, organised by WePlay Esports the former undisputed world cruiserweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk, is set to commence with its inaugural season on March 25th. 

Maksym Bilonogov, Chief Visionary Officer at WePlay Esports, commented: “DAZN is a major player in the sports broadcasting market and a partner ready to support esports and to remove the boundaries between traditional and virtual sports.

“WePlay Esports’ goal is to shape a new reality where watching esports competitions will become as routine as watching a Netflix series or an important Champions League match in the evening.”

According to the release, DAZN’s partnership with the tournament organiser is set to last for three WUFL seasons, with each campaign expected to take place in 2021.

The first season, which features competitions in Mortal Kombat 11, SOULCALIBUR VI, and Tekken 7, will be held and broadcast at the WePlay Esports Arena in Kyiv.

spEsports Insider says: WePlay Esports has committed a lot of time and effort to establish itself as a major player in the FGC over the past few months. The DAZN partnership is certainly a testament to the success of this venture, with the WUFL securing a major media partner before a fixture has even been played.
