10 Mar Fortnite: Zayt & Saf Reach Another Career Milestone With Reboot Round Win
Two Fortnite veterans managed the performance of a lifetime.
Professional Fortnite players Williams “Zayt” Aubin and Rocco “Saf” Morales will go down in the history books as two of the best when all is said and done; that much is a foregone conclusion. Since the beginning of the popular Battle Royale’s competitive existence, these two have been at the top through multiple seasons. Zayt and Saf have achieved a significant victory offline at the ESL Katowice Royale in 2019 and online in Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Chapter 2 – Season 2. It’s impossible to ignore their fourth-place finish at Fortnite’s inaugural World Cup event in the summer of 2019. Not many players will come along and replicate the success of both players across three years.
Despite his superior knowledge and ability to adapt, Zayt announced his retirement from competitive Fortnite earlier this year, citing a lack of motivation to continue as his reasoning. That didn’t last long, and the multiple-time champion returned only a few weeks later. He slotted back in with long-time duo partner Saf and Team Liquid player Stretch. These three proceeded to reach another historical milestone during the FNCS Semi-Finals in what will echo as an incredible achievement for years to come.

Adversity in the Semi-Finals
Zayt, Saf and Stretch secured a spot in the FNCS Semi-Finals through series points that the trio accumulated over three weekly qualifiers. They drew Heat D alongside other top NA East contenders, including the XSET Gaming trio of Shark, Knight and Av and the defending FNCS Champions Reverse2k, Deyy and Mero. Zayt, Saf and Stretch began the semis as they usually do, with a Victory Royale in game one. It seemed that this lone performance would be enough for them to finish inside the top eight, thus allowing them to advance to the Grand Finals. Unfortunately, the three players struggled over the next five matches.
The NA East trio, who finished fourth in FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 4, fell short in the elimination department, earning only nine to finish out Heat D. Their placement points were not enough to carry them through to the competition’s final stage. Zayt, Saf and Stretch also became targets in game six when a team landed on them, making it much more difficult to place inside the top-eight that would have put them into the finals. Instead, they finished in 11th with 88 points, meaning their last chance was the spectacular Reboot Round.
Reboot Round Comeback
Competitive Fortnite’s Reboot Round is arguably the most intense and exciting game to watch from a viewership perspective. It is one game where eliminations do not matter. All that players need to worry about is the Victory Royale. For Zayt, Saf and Stretch, they needed to pool their knowledge and capabilities into this game. Otherwise, their tournament life would be over. It wouldn’t be easy, especially considering the other teams involved in the Reboot Round.
With names like FaZe Dubs, FaZe Megga and Co1azo in the mix, it would take a near-perfect effort to claim victory. Zayt, Saf and Stretch worked in unison for the common goal of reaching the FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 5 Grand Finals, which they did. The three NA East superstars executed their game plan better than any of their opponents. Late in the match, Zayt, Saf and Stretch used the coveted Rocket Launcher to gain height over Dubs, Megga and Eclipsae. Once that happened, there was no stopping three of Fortnite’s best players.
A Career Milestone

History repeated itself once again. This time, Zayt, Saf and Stretch accomplished the unthinkable in the NA East Reboot Round. They outlasted Megga’s team and needed only three eliminations to win the match. It was just another page in the history books for Zayt and Saf, two ‘Hall of Fame’ candidates. Stretch has also compiled quite the track record, with multiple FNCS Final appearances and a DreamHack Open victory. Zayt’s return to competitive Fortnite in late-January produced one of the season’s best moments. Now, these three players head into the FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 5 Grand Finals, where they hope to add another career-defining achievement.
