10 Mar Best Support Heroes In Dota 2
Let’s take a look at some of the best support heroes in Dota 2.
Dota 2 is one of the games that receive regular updates, which usually bring along a lot of changes to some heroes. Even though most of them are aimed at carries and mid-laners, there are many support heroes that also get loads of tweaks.
Having said that, we decided to take a look at a few “evergreen” support heroes. The names that you will find below are usually viable in every meta, which is why you can’t go wrong with them, regardless of which one you pick.
Rubick
The first hero on this list is none other than Rubick. If you are an old-school Dota 2 player, you may remember that this hero was one of the go-to picks for most mid laners. He was, and frankly still is, one of the favorite heroes of Danil “Dendi” Ishutin.
Of course, the meta changed a lot in the last couple of years, which is why the hero is mainly played as support. Rubick is one of the heroes that work really well in almost every stage of the game. Although his early game is not that good, the hero has a decent damage output. Moreover, he can be paired alongside a roaming support, which means that they can easily gank everyone on the map.
Once the late game arrives, Rubick becomes one of the first heroes that the enemy team has to kill. Due to his incredibly-powerful ultimate, the hero can single-handedly carry his team to victory.
Witch Doctor
The second hero that is usually popular in every meta is Witch Doctor. Unlike Rubick, who can also be played defensively, WD is mainly effective whenever he is on the offense. In other words, the hero can deal loads of damage, especially when he is paired with someone who can do a massive burst, such as Lion or Lina. Thanks to Maledict, Witch Doctor can kill pretty much every hero in the game.
Another thing that makes WD dangerous is his ultimate. Generally speaking, it is capable of doing an insane amount of damage, but in most cases, enemy heroes won’t let WD channel it for a long time.
Lion
Up next, we have a hero that also used to be a popular mid-laner. Unlike Rubick, some people pick Lion as a core even today, but this hero is definitely more popular in the support lane.
One of the main problems that Lion players have to face is the weak laning stage. Sady, this is one of the heroes that need a lot of levels in order to be effective. Hence, Lion is really strong during the mid-game because he can easily disable two heroes at the same time.
Another thing that you should keep in mind is his ultimate. When used, Lion can easily kill almost any hero early on the map. Don’t forget that each kill increases the damage of this spell, which makes it even more deadly, especially when it’s paired with an Aghanim’s Scepter.
Crystal Maiden
If you remember, this was the first support hero in Dota 2 that received an Arcana. This is a clear sign that CM is, and will always be, one of the most popular supports in Dota 2.
The hero is one of the go-to options for most PUB games because she provides a lot of mana regen to her team. Moreover, her skill set allows it to do a lot of damage and disable enemies long enough for her team to secure a kill.
Another thing that people often forget is that CM has a really deadly ultimate. Thanks to the recent updates, she can actually cast it long enough to inflict a lot of damage.
Sadly, this hero has one major weakness, and that’s the fact that she is really squishy. Even though some people buy a Black King Bar, as well as other defensive items, most CMs die really easily during team-fights.
Disruptor
This is another hero that’s been around for many years and it doesn’t seem like he will go anywhere soon. Similarly to Lion, this is one of the heroes that need levels in order to be effective. Sure, he can do some damage early on, but he becomes a lot stronger as the game advances.
Once he hits level six, Disruptor can easily participate in team-fights and do loads of damage. Depending on which heroes he is playing against, some people purchase an Aghanim Scepter right away. Thanks to it, Disruptor can become really deadly against heroes like Storm Spirit, Phantom Lancer, Slark, and so on.
One of the biggest problems that the hero has to overcome is his slow farming speed. That’s why some people purchase a Hand of Midas early on.
