05 Mar Fortnite: World Cup Champion Nyhrox Signs With Nordavind DNB
Nordavind expands its roster to include a Fortnite World Cup Champion.
Emil “Nyhrox” Bergquist Pedersen is the newest member of the Nordic esports organization known as Nordavind DNB. The Norwegian-based brand currently represents teams in Counter-Strike, League of Legends, and recently established its presence in Fortnite Battle Royale. Nordavind’s latest pick-up became a household name in competitive Fortnite Battle Royale during the game’s inaugural World Cup event. The worldwide competition offered a $30M USD prize pool to competitors who managed to secure their spot through one of ten weekly qualifiers. Nyhrox and his former duo partner, David “aqua” Wang, earned the highest achievement in Fortnite history as World Cup winners.
After spending more than one year with M10 Esports, Nyhrox experienced a quick turnaround, which saw Nordavind reach out and agree to terms with the Fortnite champion.

Nyhrox went live on Twitch with the organization announcement, and Nordavind handled duties on Twitter. “Say hello to the latest addition to our Fortnite division: 2019 World Cup Champion, @nyhrox. The Future is Bright,” read the tweet. The Norweigan esports team also included a two-minute video, which showcased Nyhrox during the height of his career and some in-game highlights. The 18-year-old professional Fortnite player joins fellow Norwegians Endre “Endretta” Byre and Konrad “Skram” Skram on a promising Nordavind roster ahead of this season’s Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Semi-Finals.

Nyhrox Competitive History
Most fans know that Nyhrox is a historical player, given his Fortnite World Cup performance. Since then, some of his best performances include a 19th place finish at DreamHack Winter, an offline event that occurred in 2019. The Norweigan followed that up with a 4th at the Australian Open to begin 2020. Nyhrox qualified for only one of five Fortnite Champion Series events over the next four seasons. His lone Grand Finals appearance came alongside French player Zoubiri “BadSniper” Naofel in Chapter 2 – Season 2, where they finished in 34th place. More recently, he teamed with Fortnite World Cup runner-up Dave “Rojo” Jong and Kura. But they, unfortunately, did not secure a spot in the FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 5 Semi-Finals.
Under Nordavind, Nyhrox will look to rebound from a rough stretch of competitive Fortnite in Chapter 2 – Season 6. Epic Games has committed $20M USD to the scene in 2021 with many additional third-party events on tap.
