Using the popular ‘The Yard’ mode from Madden 21, the tournament is said to re-imagine gameplay by introducing teams and more collaborative strategies in a structure that could be used in future Madden Championship Series events.
According to the release, competitors will be able to design their own jerseys and avatars. Moreover, the competition will take place on a backyard-style Pizza Hut virtual football field, exclusively designed for the event.
Matt Marcou, Madden NFL Competitive Gaming Commissioner, spoke on the new tournament in a release: “The Madden NFL ‘The Yard’ Invitational is unlike anything we’ve done before. This is a fast-paced, dynamic game mode, which will offer fans and players another opportunity to experience the excitement of team-based Madden NFL gameplay.
“It’s a glimpse into how we might experiment with this format for future Madden competitions.”
