02 Mar Valorant Patch 2.04: New Agent Astra, Tactical VO And Competitive Updates
Patch 2.04 includes major updates including a new agent, tactical voice over (VO), competitive updates and more.
The new agent, Astra, has a combination of skills that make her a good option as an attacker or a defender. There’s still much left to learn about Valorant’s newest controller agent but one thing is for certain, her abilities are a game-changer for the tactical shooter.

The introduction of tactical VO is meant to improve communication amongst players and team coordination overall. Tactical VO is not meant to replace the current voice communication in any way and this feature can be fully disabled when necessary.
As this Valorant update goes live it will bring competitive matchmaking which allows lower rank players to queue with a bigger pool of players without being cut off. The adjustments made to rankings will also ensure that only Valorant’s best players are at the highest levels of gameplay.
Competitive Updates
This patch marks the start of Competitive Episode 2: Act 2! Placements have changed for the start of an Act. Firstly, your rank will not be lowered at the start of an Act if you have already placed this Episode. One placement match is enough to display your rank.
For players who have not previously placed in this Episode will need to play the five placement games to receive their rank.
Other changes include:
- Leaderboard disabled for 24-48 hours
- Reduction in the total amount of average RR per win/loss by five
- Ranks are only displayed at the end of the game screen
- Expanded competitive party ranks at lower ranks
