Dota 2: DPC CIS Upper Division — Tiebreakers Results

Here is what happened in the Upper Division of the CIS Tiebreakers.

After the heavy dominance of Virtus.Pro and Natus Vincere, we got to see two more amazing series. Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting things that happened in both of them.

Team Empire vs Team Unique

Unsurprisingly, Team Empire managed to reach this stage in the DPC after their mediocre performance. Some people expected TE to be next to VP and Na`Vi, but several mistakes didn’t allow the team to do that.

Unlike the European format, the tiebreakers here were played in a best-of-three format. The first game of the series between these two powerhouses went in favor of Team Unique. Even though Storm Spirit is not the most popular hero in this patch, Yaroslav “Pikachu” Vasilenko and his team-mates managed to utilize it properly. As a result, the hero helped Unique to claim the victory in less than 30 minutes.

Of course, a team like Empire was not going to lose without a fight, which is why they picked Wraith King and Invoker. The two heroes work pretty well together, so we weren’t surprised that Team Empire needed just 36 minutes to win. Team Unique tried to counter the enemy lineup with Bloodseeker, but the hero was not enough to bring down the strong draft of TE.

The third game lasted for 37 minutes and Team Unique managed to win after picking Templar Assassin. Team Empire tried to use their Invoker again, but TA destroyed him in the mid lane. Needless to say, the hero managed to snowball and allowed her team to win this important series.

Team Spirit vs Gambit

The second series of the day was between two teams that played really well during the DPC. However, it was time to determine which one will continue forward.

The first game between them lasted for nearly one hour and it was a joy to watch. Despite having Morhpling and Invoker, Team Spirit was unable to survive against the deadly draft by Gambit. They had Luna, which is a hero that’s famous for having insane pushing power. As soon as Gambit started to push the high ground, they gained a significant advantage and secured the victory.

The next game between the two powerhouses went in favor of Team Spirit. This time, they picked Medusa, which is a hero that’s known for her late-game capabilities. However, we didn’t have to wait long to see her power because the team needed just 34 minutes to win.

Despite the loss, Gambit picked a very solid draft for the final game of the series. Thanks to the infamous IO + Weaver combo and Storm Spirit in the mid lane, the CIS team was pretty much unstoppable. Team Spirit had no way to catch Gambit’s cores, which is why they lost after 29 minutes of play.
