Fortnite: TheGrefg Floor Is Lava Tournament Format, Prize Pool, Scoring System & More!

Learn how to win TheGrefg’s Icon Series Fortnite skin before anyone else.

Spanish content creator David “TheGrefg” Cánovas Martínez broke Twitch and pretty much the entire internet during his Fortnite character skin reveal.

He showcased his Icon Series entry for the first time in front of a record 2.5 million concurrent viewers, which made headlines across the globe. TheGrefg’s broad fan base showed their eagerness in astronomical ways ahead of the creator’s in-game cosmetic pack release. Epic Games slated January 16 as the official date for the skin to hit Fortnite’s Item Shop. For those who don’t want to wait, TheGrefg’s “Floor is Lava” Limited Time Mode (LTM) is something you’ll want to learn about.

TheGrefg’s Floor is Lava Tournament Game Mode, Dates and Format

This “first of its kind” tournament will occur the two days preceding TheGrefg’s cosmetic outfit release. Day one is on January 14, where teams of four can compete in the LTM competition. Solos will take center-stage the following day, on January 15. The description identifies the Floor is Lava mode as one where players need to stay above their opponents.

“The rundown of the tournament? It’s all about going up. Once the dangerous lava starts rising, try your best to stay on the high ground! As you’re avoiding the lava, take your best shot at opponents by throwing what you find. When you eliminate your opponents, you’ll Siphon their Health.”

Only Harpoon Guns and explosives are accessible by players in this game mode. Another caveat is that the Harpoon only deals one damage to players. To stay ahead of their opponents, players can run faster with their pickaxe equipped while evading the lava. Entrants should take note of the tournament’s format to maximize the number of points they accrue per game.

  • Three-hour session
  • A maximum of 12 matches
  • Highest point-earning solo or squad will collect a prize
