Dota 2: The Decider Events For CIS & EU DPC Qualifications Begin Soon

The EU and CIS decider tournaments start soon, here’s what you need to know.

As you may already know, this year’s Dota 2 Pro Circuit will run on an entirely new format. Instead of having loads of Minor events, Valve decided to completely remove them from the DPC. Now, each of the six regions has a unique, new regional league that will take place between each of the two Majors.

These regional leagues last for six weeks and will determine which teams advance to the Majors. Following the announcements that took place a few days ago, four teams from each region have already received an invitation for the upper-division. Having said that, we will still have four more teams that will join them from the so-called decider tournament. This event starts in just a few days from now in two of the best Dota 2 regions – EU and CIS.

Europe

Europe’s qualifiers will start tomorrow, January 7, and will last until January 10. We will see eight good teams go head to head in a double-elimination bracket. Those who manage to reach the top four will advance to the Upper-Division. On the other hand, the bottom four teams will have to battle their opponents in the Lower Division.

At first glance, the team that has the biggest chances of winning is Alliance. Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov and his teammates played really well throughout 2020. Sadly, COVID-19 prevented them from shining in the DPC, but this could change in 2021.

The second team that seems to be among the favorites is Mudgolems. Adrian “Fata” Trinks and his team shocked the world a few months ago by defeating some of the best teams in the region. Even though they haven’t played together that long, Mudgolems have proved that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Besides these two teams, we will also see the following teams:

  • Vikin.gg
  • Chicken Fighters
  • Spider Pigzs
  • Brame
  • Hippomaniacs
  • 5men

CIS

The next region that we will have the chance to watch is CIS. During 2020, CIS & EU were merged together, so we got to see plenty of action from those regions’ best teams. Starting on January 8, we will have four days of action, during which eight teams will be fighting for the Upper-Division.

Even though some people might think that Gambit Esports is the biggest favorite, we think that HellRaisers has to take the crown here. Following the recent changes and the addition of Roman “Resolut1ion” Fominok, HR is definitely one of the best teams in the region. The organization invested a lot of time into its new roster so it will be really interesting to see what will happen.

Of course, Gambit Esports has always been one of the most dominant teams in the region. Hence, they are definitely still among the favorites, even though their recent performances have not been the best.

Winstrike and B8 are also two names that have a chance to succeed. Danil “Dendi” Ishutin decided to completely rebuild his team’s roster, so hopefully, it should be able to go up against some of the best teams in the region.
