Dota 2: Avengerls Permanently Banned From Every Valve Event

2021 has just started and we already have a major Dota 2 controversy.

In case you missed it, Newbee got permanently banned some months back from participating in any events by Valve. They were found guilty of match-fixing, which is an issue that has plagued the esports scene for many years.

Just when we thought that this scandal was over, we’ve learned that Avengerls and four of their players were also involved in the match-fixing scheme. As a result, they also received a lifetime ban from Perfect World and Valve.

Avengerls is a team that consists of some of the best pub Dota 2 players in China. Sadly, it seems like the global pandemic had a negative effect on the financial situations of most players. As a result, they participated in match-fixing with Newbee in February 2020, during the semifinals of the qualifiers for StarLadder ImbaTV Minor Season 3.

Perfect World sent all evidence to Valve back in May, but it took them more than six months to review everything. Sadly, all five players from Newbee, as well as Avengerls are now permanently banned.

If you take a look at the series that they were banned for, you will notice that everything seems suspicious. Besides the questionable team fights, all core players had strange item choices.
