Apex Legends: First 2021 Update Drops Fight Night Collection

Apex Legends has dropped the first update of 2021, with a new twist on LTM events.

Now that 2020 is over, we can move onto a new and better year of Apex Legends. Apex Legends has already launched the first update of 2021 – titled the Fight Night Collection. The update is nothing major, but it includes the first content update of the year and the final content update before Season 8. The new content features store content, a new LTM, along with several balance changes.

LTM – Airdrop Escelation Takeover

Respawn Entertainment is going with something entirely new this LTM. Instead of launching a playlist, the new LTM is taking over regular play. The new mode’s rules are simple, you are in a regular game of Apex Legends, but the twist is there are way more frequent airdrops. Naturally, there will be more powerful loot on the battlefield, spicing up the game in a different way.

The supply drops for this game mode contain different weaponry tiers. The different intensity of gear depends on how many rounds of airdrops there have been. Round One’s will contain weaker items while Round Four’s contain red armor.

Pathfinder: Town Takeover

These late-season patches tend to spruce up the map with features based around Apex Legends characters. It is now time Pathfinder’s turn at sprucing the map. Teams entering the ring will not have access to their weapons. Players will have to fight with their fists to survive the battle. There is no need to feel threatened by outsiders as bullets will not get through the ring as battle commences.

Event Items

The new event comes with new shop features to buy. Respawn Entertainment has detailed the chances of getting Rares, Epics, and Legendaries in packs. For Event Items, there is a 50/50 chance of getting an Epic or Legendary item. This is to better inform their player base of what they are getting themselves into.

A small chart with the categoies "Each event pack contains" and "probabilities" shows the probabilities of receiving Epic, Legendary and Rare skins in the new Apex Legends update
The probability of getting items listed out for this event.

Balance Changes

Respawn is not going too hard on shaping the meta at the moment, though, people can get more or less bang for their buck on some legends to ride the remaining season out.

  • Rampart – Amped Cover cooldown down to 20 seconds from 30.
  • Horizon – Gravity Lift cooldown increased from 16 seconds to 21 seconds.
  • Hemlock – Damage reduced from 22 to 20.
  • Mastiff – Spread on 3rd /4th pellet to decrease range.
  • Prowler – reserve bullets increased from 175 to 210.
  • Ring updated to allow for more space in ring five, while slowly closing to the center of ring five.

This is all for the vast majority of the Apex Legends patch. You can see more of the patch notes here. A lot more is coming in the new season, where Respawn will likely do a significant meta change and add additional content. The patch is due sometime in February to align with the second anniversary of Apex Legends.
